David Simmons, Artistic Director – Mr. Simmons is also Artistic Director of The Congressional Chorus, the parent organization of the AYC. He teaches elementary and middle school choral music and runs an active opera and musical theatre program at Ascension Lutheran School in Landover Hills, MD. He has conducted children’s operas and musicals for the Washington National Opera, Alden Summer Theatre Program, Cheverly Youth Players and Rockville Summer Youth Theatre at the JCC. In addition, he is in his eighth year as a cooperating instructor in The Washington National Opera’s Music, Words, Opera and Kids Create Opera programs and his fifth year as a teaching artist in the Choral Arts Society of Washington’s ArtsACCESS program in the DC Public School System.

Debby McConnell Administrative Director –      
Ms. McConnell is an experienced choral director, having served as Music Director and Organist at St. James’ Episcopal - Mount Vernon for over 15 years. Also an accomplished soprano, Debby has over 15 years of musical theatre and recital programs to her credit. As an administrator, she holds a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from the University of Montana, and a Masters of Arts Management from George Mason University.
